Policies
Midterms
Instructors teaching a course with multiple sections who plan to schedule a common midterm examination outside the class’s regular meeting time must notify students of this event during the first week of the semester and be prepared to offer one or more make-up examinations to accommodate any student who is enrolled in a course that meets at the time of the common examination.
Students enrolled in a course that conflicts with the time of a common midterm examination must notify the instructor administering the common midterm examination of the conflict by the end of the course selection (add) period. Students may not be required to miss their regularly scheduled class.
Religious Holidays
All Professors received the message below informing them of the policy on Secular & Religous Holidays. This document also the holidays and observances considered under this policy.
Finals
Finals cannot be scheduled or due outside of the finals period. This includes the last week of classes as well as reading days.
If a student has three finals on a single day, the middle exam may be postponed.
If a student has two finals as well as a take home final due on the same day, the take home final should be postponed by one day.
Exams that are postponed can occur during the finals period if agreed to by both professor and student, otherwise it will be rescheduled to be taken during the official make-up period
If an exam must be postponed due to a death in the family, illness, religious holiday, etc., the student must contact the Dean’s office to gain approval to take a postponed exam. If approval is granted, professors must offer a make-up exam
Any changes to the date and time, and or duration, of the final by the professor without proper approval is not permitted
Class and or required class activities are not allowed to occur during reading days
All students are allowed to access their own final exam after the grading process
