Contingency Fund
Need money? The UA can help!
The UA has a Contingency Fund that we disburse to undergraduate student groups if money is needed for their activities or events beyond what they can get elsewhere. Any undergraduate group can apply to this fund on this page!
In the past, the Contingency Fund has been used to fund UA projects and initiatives such as pre-orientation programs and the UA Collegiate Readership Program (The New York Times), as well as student organizations like Penn Leads the Vote.
Current Contingency Status
For the 2009-2010 financial year, the UA has spent $0 of $19,633.
Applying to Contingency
Any undergraduate group can apply to Contingency if they feel their event or activity impacts a broad undergraduate constituency and they have exhausted other funding opportunities. All UA Contingency Fund requests are vetted by the Budget Committee and then sent to the General Body where they are approved or denied. This means that your application will need to be given to us at least a week in advance – so plan ahead! We do not fund retroactively.
Importantly, the UA will only consider Contingency Fund requests if your group has exhausted all reasonable other sources of funding – we are the fund of last resort. For more details, please see the UA’s Contingency Guidelines. Special exceptions can be granted from our guidelines by the General Body, but these have historically been extremely rare.
To make a Contingency application, please contact the Treasurer at treasurer@pennua.org. If you have any questions, please contact the Budget Committee.
