Candidate Statement (2009)
Hi Engineers! My name is Emily Shaeffer, and I’m a sophomore in Electrical Engineering. Over the past year I’ve served as an engineering rep on the UA and University Council, as the Director of Civic and Philadelphia Engagement on the UA, and as the Chair of Internal Affairs for IEEE. Last year I promised you one more engineering seat on the UA, and this year the UA went from three Engineering representatives to four. Over the past year I’ve gained valuable experience by collaborating on projects, like getting funding for student background checks and creating an Admissions Deans Advisory Boad. This year I hope you’ll support me again, so that I can continue to work on projects for SEAS students and the larger Penn community.
