Candidate Statement (2010)
his year, my platforms are simple – but they’re things that need doing. I want to protect NSO by fighting back against our administration’s attempts to extinguish on-campus parties. This policy has done nothing to curb underage drinking (parties just move off-campus); it has only made a Penn hallmark less safe and more inconvenient for all involved. I also want to explore expansion of PennCard support by letting students use bursar at merchants like Campus Copy and Penn Book Center. If you can bursar an iPod at the Penn Bookstore, you should be able to bursar a mandatory, $70 course packet. Finally, I want to make professors more accountable by publicizing the best and worst-rated professors on Penn Course Review. Right now, professors can go their whole careers never knowing or caring about the grades students give them. These are all serious problems, and it’s about time we fixed them.
