1st Term: Member for SEAS (09-10)

Candidate Statement (2009)
I’m Dan Sanchez and I’m a Junior Chemical Engineer running for SEAS Representative on the UA. Presently, I am a member of the UA’s Sustainability, Safety, and Facilities Committee, where I focus on sustainability issues. This past year, I lobbied administrators on projects related to Bike Safety and Bike Sharing, while also improving 898-RIDE, 898-WALK and Harnwell’s Energy Monitoring program. My experiences taught me that the administration is excited to work for undergraduates and that elected officials must be competent and passionate. I have seen firsthand the progress undergraduates can make towards improving campus life. Furthermore, I work as an RA in Riepe College House and am the V.P. of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. All of these roles have taught me the importance of undergraduate community. It is my hope to work next year to prod the administration towards making tangible change to enhance undergraduate life on campus.
